An embarrassing admission: I find (most) contemporary poetry alienating. Much of it reads to me like normal prose broken up into chunks on the page without much rhyme or reason. When I have this thought I always wonder what I must be missing; it goes along with the broader feeling that I just don’t quite “get” it.
